How Do We Become Experts - Can You?

Expertise is not what you think it is... And experts are not who you think they are. I'll wager that you believe an expert to be smarter, richer, more articulate, and with a better personality than you- am I right? But mostly, you believe that they have access to knowledge that you cannot. Right again?

At least, this is what most people I have dealt with in various phases of my life believe. But they are wrong; expertise is earned because a person makes a decision; she gets interested in a subject, a thing, an idea, a religion, a business, anything at all, and she begins to study what others have said and written about the thing. And then she begins to teach others... And then she writes about the thing. Voila. But does that mean that she has the last word? Or is right about everything she says? Expertise is a noun that is used loosely in the corporate and political world; somewhat less so in the academic world but still all that the sobriquet, expert, implies is: Reading, studying, teaching and writing. If you are looking to succeed in your online business, then you have no choice, you must develop expertise in your products, your compensation plan, the USP (unique selling proposition) of your opportunity. And then, you must learn how to convey the benefits of your opportunity in writing and in speaking. Once you begin a pattern of reading, studying, of writing, your expertise will accumulate almost automatically and begin to reveal itself in the confident manner in which you approach your prospects and your competitors. And then, you'll notice that the reading, studying and the writing are no longer work, they are fun!
